How it works

Three steps, no sign-up.

  1. Three tarot cards laid flat beside a phone taking a photo of the spread

    Step one

    Photograph

Lay the cards flat, get the whole spread in frame, and take a photo or choose one from your camera roll.

  2. Three tarot cards each marked as found, with the third shown reversed

    Step two

    Identify

readmyspread recognises the spread and every card, including which are reversed, and shows you what it found so you can check it.

  3. A tarot card beside lines of written reading and a speaker for audio

    Step three

    Read

You get a summary of the spread, then a reading for each card in its position. Pick one of the set questions if you want the reading to keep it in view.

  • Wands
  • Cups
  • Swords
  • Pentacles

What you get

A reading you can follow.

No act and no fog. Each reading is written to be read once, clearly, and thought about afterwards.

The spread, recognised

Single card, three-card, Celtic Cross, horseshoe and more. A freeform layout is described as it is.

Every card, named

Upright or reversed, with its position in the spread. Cards that are hard to make out are flagged, not guessed silently.

A reading by position

A short summary of the whole spread, then two or three sentences for each card, specific to where it sits.

Your question, if you have one

Pick one of the set questions and the reading keeps it in view. Skip it and you get a general reading.

Questions

Good to know.

Does it cost anything?

No. Readings are free, with no account or sign-up.

Are my photos saved?

No. Your photo is shrunk in your browser and sent to Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, to read the cards. readmyspread doesn't store photos, questions or readings. The privacy page has the detail.

What if it misreads a card?

Good light, cards laid flat and the whole spread in frame give the best results. Cards the reader isn't sure about are marked, and you can retake the photo at any time.

Which decks does it work with?

Most standard 78-card decks. Heavily stylised or unusual decks can be harder to read.

Is this fortune telling?

No. Tarot is a tool for reflection, and readings are for entertainment only. They don't predict health, money or legal outcomes, and they aren't advice.
